The Role

The Technical Lead will support a system group lead with coordinating several system engineers to ensure project priorities are met. They will oversee and perform technical checks of the design and documentation of fluid systems, as well as technical open points and design changes.

This individual will also have to support a high-profile project replication strategy by contributing to impact analysis of evolution from the design reference, procurement changes and overseeing the project's deliverable production.


Key Responsibilities

The Technical Lead will report operationally to their System Group Lead and functionally to the Fluid & HVAC Systems discipline manager.

As a Fluid System Technical Lead, you will:

  • Support preparation of Systems Design Manuals and design system components, including P&IDs and thermal-hydraulic calculations.

  • Support population and management of process databases (prioritising implementations, monitoring the implementation progress, performing technical checks on data consistency).

  • Oversee configuration management and modifications for their delegated scope.

  • Provide technical oversight and advice to system engineers, ensuring quality and adherence to milestones.

  • Manage supplier feedback impacting system design and ensure compliance with UK legislation and best practices.

  • Represent the Systems department in technical forums.

  • Drive continuous improvement within the systems team through the use of Nuclear Professionalism and Error Reduction Tools.


Key Requirements

Profile (Essential Qualifications, Experience and Skills):

  • Mechanical or Process Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.

  • Relevant experience in the nuclear industry.

  • Relevant experience to effectively manage own and team’s workload in order to respect deadlines.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately, both written and orally, in English.

  • Proactive and confident in communicating with others, particularly those based in remote offices including France, Germany.

  • Proactive in developing positive working relations with others within the project.

Desirable Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Knowledge in any of EPR system design sequences, Instrumentation & Control or Safety Classification sequences or relevant equivalent experience.

  • Experience in the management of transverse technical and contractual topics.

  • Ability to prioritise, to manage numerous interfaces, to question and understand the imperatives of other downstream disciplines.

  • Knowledge of Fluid systems or equipment.

  • Knowledge of UK licensing requirements and its application within a nuclear project.
