The Role

The ideal candidate will prospect and close sales leads to help driving the growth and success of our clients' North Sea business. Accountable for the delivery of the annual revenue target agreed with the Commercial Director and to manage a small team for the North Sea regions.

Identifying new business opportunities, which includes researching and identifying potential markets, clients, and partnerships that align with the company's goals and objectives. Establishing and building new relationships, as well as maintaining key stakeholder relationships including clients, and partners through regular communication, meetings, and networking to ensure strong and lasting connections. Tracking and analysing the performance of business development activities, which involves preparing reports, presenting findings, and making recommendations for improvement. Managing budgets for business development projects and ensuring that resources are allocated effectively.


Key Responsibilities

  • Will have overall responsibility for managing & developing commercial activities to optimise sales and profitability in accordance to the Sales plan. Bookings/ Invoicing and managing incoming cash are key metrics.

  • Successfully manage a UK based team, to achieve the sales targets in terms of revenue, volume and product mix for the business as per the Sales plan and in accordance with the worldwide growth plan

  • Support, contribute and be a key member of the UK management committee in transforming / transitioning the company to be in a position to deliver the growth plan.

  • Support the Commercial Director and Managing Director in generating business reviews or on any other topics.

  • Lead and manage customer commercial arrangements to ensure best value and long-term viability. Lead with the department to articulate the commercial answer to tender/ RFQ in accordance to group and regional processes.

  • Establishes & monitor sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales targets, projecting expected sales volumes and profit for existing and new products & services and create inputs for Standard Documents and Operating Procedures as and when required.

  • Be clear on deliverables/ Sales Plan. Building a funnel and creating opportunities. Ensure all activity is reported within the CRM system.

  • Develop strategic relationships with new and existing customers, to promote products and services, to maximise sales revenues and growth.

  • In conjunction with Technical Sales, establish regular customer sales visits to Operators, Independents and service companies for pipes, services and accessories, to achieve forecasts.

  • Identify emerging markets and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status within the product lines.

  • Ensure that customer care and satisfaction is optimised both in terms of designated contract responsibilities and new business opportunities.

  • Focus on marketing and competition awareness. This includes developing and executing marketing strategies to promote the company's products or services, as well as analysing and responding to competitive activities in the market. Provide market intelligence and feedback to Senior Management as required.

  • Leading and motivating the team to achieve business goals by setting clear expectations, providing guidance, and fostering a positive work environment.

  • Managing resources effectively to ensure that the team has what it needs to succeed, including budgeting for projects and ensuring efficient use of resources.

  • Being flexible and adaptable to changing business needs and market conditions by proactively addressing challenges and finding innovative solutions.

  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, including those related to health and safety, quality, and legal regulations. This involves staying up-to-date with any changes or updates to policies and ensuring that all team members are aware of and adhere to these guidelines.


Key Requirements

Skills & Experience 

  • Preferably educated to degree level in Business Studies, Marketing or a related field.

  • Previous experience in a similar senior commercial position, within the Oil and Gas Industry.

  • Significant experience in business development, sales, or a related field is crucial. This includes a proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.

  • Strong analytical skills are necessary to assess market opportunities, analyse data, and make informed business decisions.

  • A solid understanding of marketing principles and strategies, as well as the ability to analyse and respond to competitive activities in the market.

  • Possess the ability to operate at a strategic level to identify and capture new business opportunities.

  • Managerial experience to lead, coach and mentor a team to maximise their potential.

  • An in-depth knowledge of the market situation, including competitors, to report trends which will influence Company Strategy.

  • The ability to negotiate effectively is crucial for closing deals and forming partnerships.

  • The ability to develop and implement business strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.

  • Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges and find innovative solutions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for building relationships with clients, partners and internal teams.

  • Organisational, interpersonal, presentation and negotiating skills as the role will involve liaison with senior personnel across the internal and external customer group.

  • Possess the ability to prioritise and co-ordinate multiple tasks to meet targets.
