Our Client is a leading global expert in the provision of welding and coating services and operates in several jurisdictions around the world.


The Role

The Project Engineer will play a key role in supporting both pre-award and post-award project activities for specialist welding and coating works within the North America Offshore business unit.

A significant focus of the role will be the preparation of technical and commercial proposals, including bid documentation, cost estimates, schedules, and technical clarifications. Following contract award, the Project Engineer will support project execution, coordination, and delivery to ensure work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

Proposals and Bid Preparation

  • Prepare technical and commercial proposals for welding and coating projects.

  • Review client ITT / RFQ documentation, specifications, drawings, and scopes of work.

  • Prepare cost estimates, including labour, materials, equipment, consumables, subcontractors, and logistics.

  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations and technical input.

  • Develop project schedules and execution plans for bid submissions.

  • Participate in technical and commercial clarifications with clients.

  • Support bid strategy development and post-bid reviews.

Project Execution & Support

  • Assist with planning and coordination of awarded projects from handover through to completion.

  • Support project managers with engineering, documentation, and cost control.

  • Coordinate with welding, coating, QA/QC, HSE, and site teams.

  • Assist in procurement of materials, consumables, and specialist equipment.

  • Track project progress and support reporting on cost, schedule, and risk.

  • Support preparation of as-built documentation and close-out dossiers.


Key Requirements

Skills & Experience 

Job Specific Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Construction Management, Materials Science, or a related field

Work Experience Required:

  • Previous experience working in the oil & gas engineering.

Skills & Knowledge Required:

  • Proven experience in proposal, bid, or tender preparation is essential.

  • Understanding of industry standards such as API, ASME, ISO, NACE / AMPP.

  • Experience working with EPC contractors and end-clients is an advantage.

  • Solid commercial awareness and cost estimation ability.

  • Ability to interpret complex technical specifications and drawings.

  • Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail.

  • Ability to work on multiple bids and projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
