The Role
As Operations Reporting Manager, you will be responsible for designing, delivering, and continuously improving operational reporting and analytics that enable data-driven decision-making across the business. You will work closely with senior stakeholders to translate complex operational data into clear, actionable insights, while setting standards for reporting accuracy, automation, and governance.
This is a highly visible role combining hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibility. You will act as a subject-matter expert for operational data and systems, oversee reporting frameworks, and support continuous improvement initiatives across operations, finance, commercial, and technology teams.
Key Responsibilities
Own and deliver end-to-end operational reporting across key business processes and performance metrics
Design, build, and maintain scalable reporting solutions using advanced SQL and Excel
Develop dashboards and recurring reports supporting operational, financial, and strategic decision-making
Produce clear, executive-level presentations communicating insights, trends, risks, and recommendations
Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across all reporting outputs
Write, optimise, and maintain complex SQL queries, including performance tuning
Analyse large, multi-source datasets to deliver reliable and timely insights
Partner with IT and data teams to define reporting requirements and improve data models
Identify and implement opportunities to automate manual reporting processes
Build advanced Excel models using Power Query, Power Pivot, complex formulas, and automation
Act as a trusted analytics partner to operational leaders and senior management
Translate business questions into analytical approaches and clear reporting outputs
Present findings confidently to non-technical stakeholders
Lead, mentor, and develop analysts or reporting specialists
Review team outputs to ensure quality, accuracy, and alignment with reporting standards
Define and enforce reporting standards, documentation, and best practices
Drive continuous improvement in reporting efficiency, accuracy, and usability
Key Requirements
Skills & Experience
Essential:
Experience in operations reporting, analytics, or business intelligence roles
Proven experience owning and delivering complex operational reporting in large or fast-paced environments
Advanced, hands-on experience using SQL and Excel in production reporting contexts
Experience improving reporting processes through automation and standardisation
Desirable:
Experience working within the energy sector
Technical Competencies:
Advanced SQL expertise, including complex queries, optimisation, and data validation
Advanced Excel skills, including Power Query, Power Pivot, advanced formulas, and automation
Strong understanding of relational databases and data structures
Experience with BI tools (e.g. Power BI)
Excellent analytical skills with a logical and systematic approach
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Strong interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of the organisation

Degree-level education in a relevant discipline (Essential)
