Our Client is a marine power pioneer, leading the development of advanced technology for commercial shipping and maritime applications. We are supporting them on an exclusive basis in their search for a dynamic and motivated Marine Engineer to join their team on a permanent staff basis.
This industry is at an exciting inflection point and is transitioning from theoretical R&D to feasibility, framework and fleet readiness planning. Our Client is a leading player in this sector collaborating with global maritime and energy powerhouses to drive zero-emission maritime power and advanced marine propulsion technology.
The Role
Our Client is seeking a highly skilled Marine Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have proven hands-on experience in marine engineering, with a strong background in floating applications (e.g FPSO, Oil and Gas etc) marine systems design and/or operation. The Marine Engineer will provide and apply technical expertise in marine engineering to influence the design, construction and/or conversion of a variety of floating application and vessels in the marine, offshore and renewable sectors. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and contribute to diverse marine engineering projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive innovation in the maritime industry.

Key Responsibilities
Take a senior role in the design development, analysis, and optimisation of marine systems, structures, and components with a focus on marine systems.
Develop the Model Based Systems Engineering capability as project maturity and complexity develops.
Provide marine engineering expertise to projects at various lifecycle stages; from conception to completion, ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance with regulations and standards.
Conduct technical evaluations, feasibility studies, and risk assessments for marine engineering discipline.
Preparation of equipment and system layouts and schematics e.g., ship systems or engine room layouts for new build and/or conversion projects
Undertake Plan review of specifications, drawings, diagrams, and other technical submissions in accordance with the established procedures. This will entail substantiation of comments and attendance of technical meetings as well as company representation activity.
Provide technical expertise and guidance to designers and project managers.
Act as a discipline leader in both project settings and company related activities, including but limited to, business development settings, research and innovation activities, company events, conferences etc.
Prepare tender documentation for new projects.
Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities to understand project requirements, address concerns, and ensure project success.
Be able to meet with a wide variety of maritime and nuclear industry stakeholders and interpret their needs in describable tasks that can be conducted and subsequently delivered.
Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop innovative solutions and design concepts that meet project objectives and client needs.
Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and modelling activities using specialised software tools and methodologies.
Participate in industry conferences, workshops, and forums to share insights, exchange knowledge, and build relationships within the maritime community.
Key Requirements
Skills & Experience
Experience working on floating applications (FPSO / Semi-Sub / Oil & Gas / LNG / Floating Wind etc) is essential.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marine Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Ocean Engineering, or a related field.
Experience in playing a primary role in a marine design or advisory environment and ability to allocate decision making inside or outside a project team.
FPSO experience is highly desirable and general floating experience is essential .
Good knowledge/awareness of ship design and shipyard practices.
Direct experience managing contracts or projects.
Experience in interpreting and applying Classification Society, IMO and other rules and standards.
Direct experience in multidisciplinary design projects in the nuclear and / or marine industry.
Comfortable with completing calculation using both first principles and computational methods.
Comfortable with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, preferably AutoCAD.
Critical thinking skills and ability to manage design uncertainties and identify risk mitigations.
Applicants must possess valid UK right-to-work documentation prior to commencement with relevant evidence of citizenship of a US Department of Energy Part 810 authorised country.
