Our Client is a marine power pioneer, leading the development of advanced technology for commercial shipping and maritime applications. We are supporting our Client on an exclusive basis in their search for an Associate CAD Designer to join their team on a permanent staff basis.
This industry is at an exciting inflection point and is transitioning from theoretical R&D to feasibility, framework and fleet readiness planning. Our Client is a leading player in this sector, collaborating with global maritime and energy organisations to drive zero-emission maritime power and advanced marine propulsion technology.
The Role
The Our Client is seeking an Associate CAD Designer to support the development of technical drawings, 2D and 3D models, and visual representations for maritime development projects. The role will suit someone who enjoys turning engineering information and preliminary concepts into practical, accurate drawing packages.
This is a hands-on development role for an early-career CAD Designer, CAD Technician, Drafter or Draughtsperson who already has practical industry experience and is ready to build their capability under the guidance of experienced members of the design team. The successful candidate will primarily support and shadow a senior CAD Designer, while also collaborating with naval architects and engineers across the wider team.
Working from a great office, you will join a small, rapidly-growing and highly skilled team, sit alongside and learn from diverse technical capabilities, and contribute to an industry-defining mission.
Key Responsibilities
Translate design concepts, sketches and engineering information into accurate 2D drawings and 3D CAD models.
Develop and modify structural 3D models for maritime development projects.
Produce clear, high-quality technical and conceptual drawings under the guidance of senior designers, engineers and naval architects, including preliminary layouts, general arrangements, structural drawings and system drawings.
Support the preparation of general arrangements, structural drawings, schematics, safety plans and other project documentation as required.
Interpret project briefs and contribute practical design solutions.
Check drawings and models for accuracy, consistency and alignment with engineering requirements
Work openly with multidisciplinary colleagues to identify clashes, raise concerns and resolve design issues.
Maintain drawing records, registers, filing systems and drawing-block libraries where required.
Build knowledge of relevant drafting standards, techniques and quality requirements.
Learn and adopt new CAD software, workflows and design tools as the team’s needs develop.
Contribute to other agreed design projects and duties appropriate to the role.
