The Role

The Senior Project Manager will oversee the development, planning and execution and successful completion of utility-scale gas peaking and BESS projects. This role requires technical knowledge, project management skills and experience in the renewable energy sector to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and in compliance with all relevant planning and industry standards. You will also assist in managing the day-to-day activities of internal Project Manager's and other stakeholders reporting directly to the Projects Director.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets for BESS / Gas Peaking projects, ensuring alignment with planning and organisational goals.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and other stakeholders, ensuring transparent communication and effective collaboration throughout each project phase.

  • Management of cross-functional teams, including engineers, procurement specialists and construction crews, to optimise resources and drive project milestones.

  • Ensure all projects meet industry standards and comply with all applicable local regulations relating to safety, environmental impact and other relevant requirements.

  • Identify potential risks, develop mitigation strategies, and manage contingencies to maintain project continuity.

  • Monitor project quality standards and conduct regular inspections to ensure high-performance outcomes and adherence to best practices in installation.

  • Provide timely updates to senior management, maintain accurate project documentation, and prepare reports on project progress, risks, and financial performance.

  • Good experience with relevant legal frameworks, contracts, grid code / connections and DNO management / processes.

  • Strong experience in CDM, Civil and/or Electrical tender documentation.


Key Requirements

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Renewable Energy, or a related field.

  • Demonstratable project experience, preferably within the construction, engineering, or energy sectors.

  • Track record in managing large-scale renewable energy or HV EPC projects.

Required Knowledge:

  • You will require strong organisational skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel or MS Projects), and familiarity with (other) project management software.

  • A strong understanding of battery storage and gas reciprocating engines, electrical engineering principles, understanding of renewable energy development processes, grid connections and excellent proficiency with project management tools and methodologies is required.

  • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously is essential.

  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment whilst maintaining a high level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion is a must.

  • An ability to manage high-performing engineering and construction teams to meet budgets and timeframes is essential, as is a willingness to travel between project sites.

  • A strong working knowledge of various tendering strategies, contractor management and legal frameworks is expected.
