The Role

The mission will consist of supporting all mechanical studies and activities required for a nuclear engineering and construction project. Our Client is open to all levels of Mechanical Engineering expertise, including newly qualified postgraduates.


Key Responsibilities

  • Clarifying the deliverables necessary for construction with the help of the Back Office who carried out the studies.

  • Gathering input data, analysing / updating hypothesis notes and loading description reports.

  • Performing mechanical stress analyses.

  • Equipment anchorages capability.

  • Possibly required to work on valve calculations.

  • Proposing appropriate and proportionate modifications in circumstance sizing criteria not met.

  • Assessing and answering technical issues arising during manufacturing, construction works and erection.

  • Assessing and integrating modification from stakeholders after packages handed over to the design office.

  • Conducting mental calculations and running anchorages macros to assess the feasibility of Modification.

  • Checking calculation notes and guide drawings subcontracted to external companies.

  • Proposing improvements for the studies not finalized.

  • Maintaining QA procedures in delivering the design.

  • Working with CAD designers/detailers in the preparation of the design drawings.

  • Leading technical meetings with suppliers or any other necessary support entities.

  • Interfacing with several stakeholders.

  • In near future, the Mechanical Engineer could also be in charge of coordinating the activities related to valves and will be responsible for the interface with all the stakeholders.


Key Requirements

Skills & Experience 

Required:

  • Science, Mechanical or Engineering degree qualification is essential.

  • The Engineer should possess good interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.

  • The Engineer will have the ability to take a strategic view, manage a multiplicity of interfaces, summarise, be proactive, and meet commitments and deadlines.

  • The Engineer will be required to write clearly expressed and well-presented technical documents and apply logical thinking.

  • Proven experience in specification, design, procurement and installation of electrical components.

  • Excellent Interpersonal skills, conscientiousness, organisation, writing ability.

  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

  • Good organisational, writing and oral expression skills in English are essential for the realization of the activities of document production, steering and interfaces with the various correspondents.

  • Must be able to secure BPSS clearance.

  • Ability to prioritise, to manage numerous interfaces, to question and understand imperatives of other downstream disciplines.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of RCC-E code

  • Oral French fluency is highly desirable

  • Field experience

  • Knowledge of 2D and 3D design software

  • Experience working in a multicultural environment

  • Experience in the management of transverse technical and contractual topics
