The Role
The Junior Plant Accountant will gain hands-on exposure to a broad range of accounting functions across multiple locations while supporting operations within a specialised heavy equipment manufacturing environment. This role will serve as a key resource for financial reporting, analysis, and plant accounting activities, offering strong opportunities for growth and development within the organisation.
This is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to gain a foothold in a global, progressive business. Ideally you will have recently graduated with a finance/accounting degree with some experience. Coming in at entry level with a view to progressing into the Accounting Manager role within the next few years. Definitely an opportunity that does not come along very often.
Key Responsibilities
Shadow the current Plant Accountant to gain insight into all accounting processes and responsibilities
Document procedures, workflows and key controls to ensure continuity
Assist with plant accounting functions across multiple locations
Support month-end close activities, ensuring accurate mnd accounting
Support manufacturing and inventory accounting activities
Participate in management of rental fleet
Help maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
Assist with reporting and analysis as needed
Serve as a developing point of contact for plant accounting questions
Assist with the transition from SAP to IFS ERP systems
Support in the provision of financial evidence for internal or external audits as and when required
Timely submission of balance sheet reconciliations – ensuring that the monthly account reconciliations are prepare and reviewed with action plans to resolve issues.
Maintain strong internal controls to mitigate financial risks and prevent fraud
Implement accounting policy and best practices in line with company policies
Support with adhoc analysis as and when required
Key Requirements
Skills & Experience
Job Specific Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar field
Work Experience Required:
Accounting experience
Solid understanding of cost accounting principles
Familiarity with standard costing methodologies
Experience with IFS and/or SAP is preferred
Skills & Knowledge Required:
Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyse and interpret financial data
Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities
Ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing priorities, and work independently with minimal supervision
Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
Highly self-motivated, dependable, and proactive in supporting operational and financial objectives
Strong time management and analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement
Business-minded approach with the ability to identify opportunities that add value to the organisation
