The Role
The Expeditor will be responsible for:
Strengthening order execution, accuracy, and communication across projects and workshop operations.
Ensuring material orders are placed accurately, monitored proactively, and updated in a timely manner to support project schedules and long-term customer commitments.
Working closely with Project Managers, Engineering, and Workshop teams to align requirements with engineering and project delivery dates.
Maintaining accurate ERP data, to ensure supplier delivery dates are reliable, and expediting critical orders to avoid disruption.
Ensuring no order goes unmonitored and risks are managed early to provide clear and timely visibility of material status, for the purpose of driving communication and escalation when necessary to ensure all stakeholders have reliable and timely information.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure accurate and timely material order execution
Create, review, and maintain purchase orders with correct dates, quantities, and project references to ensure full data accuracy and traceability in the ERP system.
Track supplier delivery performance
Identify recurring issues, and support escalation through the procurement manager where delivery or quality risks persists.
Proactively track, chase, and expedite supplier orders
Monitor open orders daily, obtain delivery confirmations, and escalate any risks early to prevent delays to project milestones and customer commitments.
Provide clear and frequent material status updates
Deliver accurate reporting and communication to Project Managers, Engineering, and Workshop teams, ensuring stakeholders have real-time visibility of order readiness and potential risks.
Support project delivery through cross-functional collaboration
Work closely with internal teams to align Auto weld and FJC procurement activities with engineering, project requirements, and schedules.
Drive disciplined order and data management to ensure delivery reliability
Maintain accurate records, update delivery dates promptly, and uphold strong follow-up practices to ensure no order goes unmonitored and customer commitments are protected.
Prepare and maintain simple expediting and risk reports highlighting critical orders, delivery risks, and required actions, escalating to the Procurement Manager in line with agreed thresholds.

Skills & Experience
Job Specific Education Required:
Essential:
GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English
Desirable:
Hold or working towards CIPS
Experience with working with ERP systems SAP/IFS.
Work Experience Required:
Essential :
Demonstrated experience in an administrative, supply chain, procurement, or expediting environment
Proficient user of ERP system
Desirable:
Work experience in energy sector
Experience working in project-based manufacturing or fabrication environments
Understanding of basic logistics concepts
Exposure to Supplier performance reviews or expediting dashboards
Skills & Knowledge Required:
Essential:
Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail and data accuracy
Ability to prioritise and manage multiple orders and deadlines in a fast-moving project environment
Strong communication skills with ability to follow up professionally and assertively with suppliers
Proficient in SAP/IFS or similar systems and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to escalate risks early
Requirement to travel
Minimal travel may be required to visit suppliers or other company sites on occasion.
