Description
Our client is a fast-growing renewable energy developer currently expanding its operations across the UK. With a portfolio of sites spanning from Scotland to the South of England, they are embarking on an exciting period of transitional growth. As part of this growth, the company is strengthening its grid connections function to support ongoing and upcoming energy projects.
The Role
The Connections Lead will play a key role in managing and delivering grid connection activities across multiple renewable energy projects, including battery storage and solar developments. The position requires strong technical understanding of power systems and grid connection processes, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with design, planning, and project management teams.
You’ll be part of a small, integrated team where proactive communication and teamwork are highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
Manage grid connection processes for renewable energy projects from early development to delivery stages.
Prepare and review technical documentation, including G99 applications and associated connection data.
Liaise with network operators (DNOs, National Grid, etc.) to coordinate connection requirements and approvals.
Work closely with internal teams such as design, planning, and project management to ensure technical alignment.
Maintain accurate records of grid connection progress and technical data.
Support the implementation of grid connection strategies as the company transitions to an owner-operator model.
Key Requirements
Skills & Experience
Proven experience in grid connections, power systems, or renewable energy development.
Strong technical understanding of G99 applications and related connection processes.
Ability to interpret and manage technical data related to grid and power systems.
Confident communicator who enjoys collaborating within a small, dynamic team.
Self-starter capable of working autonomously and as part of a team
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to establish common ground and build relationships quickly
Knowledge of UK power network developments, legislation and industry standards
This role could suit an individual with previous experience in a developer company or in a DNO organisation
