Senior Installation Analysis Engineer

Simpson Booth's client, a global subsea engineering & construction company, is looking for an Installation Analysis Engineer to work in their Pipeline Group based in our Sutton, London office.

The client will consider applications at Engineer Level II or Senior Engineer level for this role.

The Installation Analysis Engineer position incorporates the full installation process from analysis up to the following of offshore operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering fit for purpose rigid pipeline installation engineering on projects or tenders with specific focus on safe and cost effective installation operations and will be responsible for dealing with different pipeline installation methods such as S & J Lay or Reel Lay.

The Pipeline Group is a Service Provider to the client and their mission is to offer consistent and progressive delivery of global rigid pipeline systems, through locally tailored solutions, automation and strategic supply chain partnerships. The team provides 'bid to execution' capabilities for full pipeline fabrication and installation including welding, inspection, field joint coating, polymer lining and installation engineering. They have a global footprint with teams in Aberdeen, Glasgow, Houston, London, Paris, Singapore and Stavanger and manages pipelay on six construction vessels.

Specific Key Responsibilities & Activities

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Performs installation analyses using Orcaflex
  • Good knowledge of Python and Excel VBA
  • Knowledge of Abaqus, Hydrodynamic Software ( Moses, Aqua, HydroStar ) is a plus
  • Manages a technical scope within the project/tender team with associated engineers and draftmen
  • Manages the technical documentation related to the scope
  • Ensures that installation procedures and associated calculations are in line
  • Ensures that specifications and norms related to the project are respected
  • Provides support to offshore operations with possible short periods offshore or on yard,
  • Participates actively to engineers training and development,
  • Participates actively to the PG department know-how consolidation,
  • Proposes innovative solutions allowing cost & risks reduction

Personal Specification

  • Previous experience in a similar role, within Subsea Engineering is essential
  • Previous experience working with Abaqus and Orcaflex is essential
  • Previous experience working with Python and VBA is desirable
  • There will be offshore visits involved in this role so candidates must have, or be willing to obtain, full offshore certification
