HR Learning and Development Manager

Simpson Booth are currently supporting a major, global oil and gas service company with the recruitment of an experienced HR Learning and Development Manager for their South London office. You will join this industry leading organisation at a pivotal and exciting time as they launch their new digital HR platform and embark on a strategic learning and development journey. You will play a crucial role in the deployment of this digital HR software which will support learning, performance, feedback, succession and careers, and will also be responsible for driving forward the overall learning and development journey.

You will be responsible for the global performance management process of this HR digital platform, working as the subject matter expert for digital learning system support and providing change management guidance to the company's digitalisation team. A key member of staff within the corporate development team, you will contribute technical learning and development expertise and will be involved in influencing and supporting the future direction of the company.

Key Role Specifics:

  • Responsible for this global process of performance management of the digital platform and of the Learning and Development journey
  • Continue to support the shift towards the new performance management culture of performance and development through feedback and via internal engagement, communications, new system configuration/process and launch planning. This includes focus and support for "careers" and career planning
  • Digital Learning System support: subject matter expert for performance management and careers; supporting the workshops and launch/delivery as needed
  • Global content workstream lead for HR digital platform: deliver launch content, configured as needed. Deliver content strategy to cover governance and maximise the use of content
  • Managing and improving the content usage at group level using metrics and advising/guiding regions
  • Functional content: plan and engage with the functions to update their development scheme, agree content and ongoing support
  • Programmes/Course lead: Deliver annual compliance campaign and any other mandatory global eLearning campaigns
  • Support Graduate programme as needed, plus advisory capacity to lead and support to run events
  • Change management support as needed to the wider business:
  • Support the company's digitalisation: change management support to the company's digitalisation team
  • Coordination and engagement with Regions and wider business to drive learning, on board to the Digital Learning System

Role and responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Contributes to the strategy and direction of the Learning and Development function
  • Develop the Learning and Development function through clearly understood roles, responsibilities and performance objectives, regular feedback and continuing professional training
  • Incorporates the company strategies and annual plan into the relevant delivery and appropriate local business plans
  • Leads the development of a high performing culture and associated behaviours across the group
  • Specifically contributes technical Learning and Development expertise into the business to support best practice development and delivery of Learning and Development activities, enabling talent to be retained and developed to support the operational strategy of the organisation
  • Responsible for the efficient, timely, accurate and cost-effective management and delivery of the function's activities within the designated area of responsibility
  • Plans, organises, manages and continuously improves the processes for the team in accordance with the company's global ways of working
  • Provides input to budget and is accountable for controlling costs and meeting your department budget
  • Ensures the implementation of and adherence to our Client's Management System, professional tools, policies, systems and processes
  • Record, measure, monitor and report on activities within area of responsibility
  • Manage and lead all administrative tasks in relation to the area of responsibility
  • Provides direction, leadership, supervision and mentoring to direct reports, and indirect reports in Regions/Business
  • Develops a constructive and professional relationship with all stakeholders and HR colleagues within the company globally

Knowledge and Experience Required

  • Must have a background of working in HR Development, having managed development using online technology and software
  • Must have proven experience in learning and development change management
  • Experience of leading and supporting software deployment in large organisation
  • A background in the oil and gas sector is desirable but not essential
  • Degree qualified candidates will be preferred
  • CIPD qualification is desirable
  • Evidence of ongoing, appropriate formal professional development, which may include membership of a professional HR association
  • Digital learning experience would be desirable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong coaching abilities
  • Must be highly articulate with strong organisational and strategic planning skills
