Simpson Booth are looking for a Group Reporting Accountant on behalf of our E & P operator client based in central Aberdeen.

The Group Reporting Accountant will work within the Group Finance and more widely CFO team in providing monthly, interim and consolidated management reporting.


Role Responsibilities:

  • Assist is delivering optimum Finance Operating Model design and financial reporting and accounting system which reflects best practice, sustainability and expansion capabilities
  • Assist with Data migration, UAT, training activities
  • Prepare company accounting policies and technical accounting manual
  • Provide technical IFRS and UK GAAP accounting support
  • Prepare monthly consolidated financial reporting pack ensuring adherence to accounting policies, best practice and recommended industry accounting practice
  • Ensure continual improvement and enhancement of the monthly, quarterly, interim and annual consolidated reporting pack
  • Ownership of company financial system finance ledger
  • Assist in the development of the business intelligence reporting systems driving automation wherever possible
  • Management of month end process
  • Run external audit process
  • Drafting and presenting reports to Audit Committee
  • Coordinate statutory accounting and interface with tax and legal
  • Develop and implement standardised financial reporting and accounting processes
  • Identify operating model and process gaps and propose solutions
  • Undertake training of staff where necessary


Qualification and experience:

  • Degree qualified and with recognised accounting qualification ACA or equivalent
  • Extensive technical accounting knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP within upstream oil and gas accounting is essential
  • Excellent financial accountant with proven track record
  • Experience of SunSystems preferred
  • Strong MS Office skills
