Based in London (W2 area) we are recruiting for a newly created HR Manager role. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious HR Business Partner or HR Manager to make a progressive career step within a leading edge, high growth and disruptive retail sector from their UK HQ.

The role reports to the HR director who is looking for a creative, lively and progressive HR practitioner who can work with the minimum of supervision but is focussed on the development and support of field based employees in what is an unusual but quickly growing business model.

The team is fast paced and supportive and you will be expected to work towards supporting the company goals of providing excellent service and efficiency. You will be an ideas person, a person with an infectious lively personality who can influence team members and colleagues.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a tangible and lasting impact on this area of the business and also have the chance to influence the HR function and Direction.

Role has 3 direct reports. Current headcount is over 400, most of whom work remotely. Short to mid term growth plans to increase to 600. Employees are all salaried staff. Travel is required in the UK and circa 4 times per annum to the US for workshops and training as required.

Day to Day responsibilities;

  • Provide operational HR Delivery
  • Policy development, roll out and maintenance
  • Manage team and their effectiveness
  • Manage employee relations, development and performance management mechanisms
  • Onboarding and induction
  • Manage the benefits offering and development
  • Provide compensation advice and maintain internal relativities and reasonableness of pay
  • Through policy and communication, engender and develop a positive working culture
  • Maintain data and HR record keeping systems.

About you - must haves

  • Confident self-starter who is eager to develop and build on their HR knowledge
  • 3-5 years' experience of HR delivery in a retail, hospitality or similar environment
  • Demonstrates pro-activity, initiative and good judgement in resolving issues.
  • Strong sense of personal accountability and responsibility, and a good degree of resilience.
  • The ability to work effectively and confidently with people at all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to manage own time and priorities in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment.
  • Relevant professional qualification - CIPD Level 7 or equivalent.
  • Experience of managing remote and multi site based employees
  • Worked in a company in an equivalent role with a headcount > 300
