Simpson Booth are supporting a well-known, multinational consulting business with the recruitment of a Data Science Lead for a highly attractive opportunity based in central London. This is a full-time, staff opportunity.

The main responsibility of this role is to deliver analytics, data and AI based projects and experiments. This entails:

  • Working with the innovation and technology team members, the business and clients to identify opportunities for using data and AI to solve business challenges.
  • Carrying out tasks associated with data wrangling, cleansing and exploration
  • Researching and implementing custom statistical models and machine learning algorithms for classification, regression and transformation
  • Executing proof-of-concepts and pilots to evolve an idea into a successful prototype or solution
  • Communicating results and ideas to key stakeholders and decision makers
  • Proactively sourcing additional external structured and unstructured data sets to enhance analysis, services and insights
  • Upskilling the wider team in best practices in data science

Person specification (essential)

  • Demonstrable experience in a lead data science role.
  • A Degree or PhD in: statistics, mathematics, physical sciences, economics or other related area.
  • Experience using machine learning techniques.
  • Expertise working with scripting languages such as Python and/or R and SQL.

Person specification (desirable)

  • Demonstrable experience managing large projects and ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Experience managing other data scientists
  • Familiarity with Cloud-based data and machine learning services and APIs (Azure)
  • Knowledge of Deep Neural Networks and frameworks such as Tensor flow, Keras or PyTorch.
