Legal Counsel - Real Estate

Our client, based in Mayfair, is a successful multi-family office that specialises in real estate investment and advisory work. They carry out a number of strategies, including real estate bridge and development financing, direct real estate investment and development. They are looking for a Legal Counsel to join their team and play a key role in overseeing the legal aspects of the business and their investment strategies, which will entail providing standalone advice internally and also working with external law firms.

The ideal candidate will have trained in practice and spent some time in an in-house role, ideally within a bridge lending and development finance environment or credit fund (although this is not essential). Knowledge of real estate/ property finance, securitisation and the legal issues and framework around bridging and development finance is essential. The role will be varied and the successful candidate will be required to have a broad experience and knowledge across all corporate legal matters, including company secretarial, AML/KYC compliance and contract law.

Key requirements/experience required:

  • English Qualified Lawyer, ideally with some experience in-house
  • Strong experience in UK banking /lending and real estate/property (this will need to have included 1st and 2nd charge secured lending work/projects)
  • Detailed experience in drafting and negotiating facility agreements
  • Experience of compliance (AML/KYC) and company secretarial matters
  • The ability to advise on a wide range of issues in support of the family office side of the business as and when required.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to adapt to a changing environment
