Function:

  • Provides Engineering expertise to the Operations Division and Manufacturing and Warehousing Managers. Leading engineering projects under the direction of the Plant Manager. Ensures the effective installation, maintenance and improvement of all Plant, equipment, operations services and buildings in line with budgets and cost targets to give optimum performance.
  • Improving efficiencies and output by delivery on improvement and other projects.
  • Limiting time lost due to breakdowns etc. through an effective Planned Maintenance programme.
  • Risk management – minimizing company exposure through effective systems and management.

Reporting Structure:

Number of direct reports: 4

Organisation:

  • Reports directly to the Plant Manager.
  • Works with the Manufacturing, Process Improvement, Health and Safety and Environment, UK General Manager, Engineering and Operations personnel at other company locations.

Key Customers and Suppliers:

  • External: Contractors and service providers. Engineering suppliers
  • Internal: Manufacturing, Process Improvement/HSE, UK General Manager, Engineering and Operations personnel at other company locations. Projects Engineer

Team Involvement:

  • Part of the UK Operations team attending regular update meetings.
  • Also can lead or be part of specific Project Teams.

Dimension:

  • Reduced Breakdown time On-time and on budget delivery on projects
  • Spare part and services spend control

Description of main tasks:

  1. Input into the planned maintenance schedule reviewing and amending with the Manufacturing Team Leaders.
  2. Managing the procurement and installation of capital items either from within the Company or from external suppliers.
  3. Leading Professional Maintenance Pillar.
  4. Assist, lead projects to improve and achieve optimum performance from all plant, equipment and services.
  5. Maintenance spare parts budget control.
  6. Availability/Placing/ receiving maintenance parts orders through system with suppliers.
  7. Maintain and control Maintenance Suppliers contact database.
  8. Ensures Health and Safety and other standards are adhered to.
  9. Manages mandatory training for the Maintenance Process Operators.
  10. Project Management as required by the Plant Manager for Engineering Projects.
  11. Preparation of drawings of Plant using CAD techniques.
  12. Specifying, agreeing, monitoring and amending project plans in close liaison with Plant Manager.
  13. Presenting proposed capital budget to Plant Manager. Engineering input into "M" and "D" requests.
  14. Prepare, review, and revise operational procedures for approval.
  15. Maintain buildings and services to a good state.
  16. Control of services budget.
  17. Appoints and manages external contractors, service contracts ensuring best value and service.

Person Specification

Professional Education:

  • Degree in the field of Engineering
