Simpson Booth's client, a global Technical insulation manufacturer, is looking for a Warehouse & Logistics Team Leader for their plant in Oldham.

Job Function

  • Leading and managing a team within Warehouse and Logistics.
  • Meeting specific targets and objectives as directed by the Logistics Manager.
  • Ensuring there are adequate resources, including employees to achieve specified objectives and targets.
  • Ensuring customer service levels are met including accurate order dispatch, documentation and stock accuracy.

Team Management

  • Motivating, developing skills and coaching a team within the Warehouse, Transport, and Stock Control and Goods Inward team. Also performance management.
  • Ensuring adequate resources are in place to achieve plan and targets received from Sales, Planning and Purchasing.
  • Maintaining Health and Safety, Environmental, Quality, performance and conduct standards within the department.
  • Responsible for absence management, including conducting Return to Work interviews and Absence Reviews.
  • Working with formal Company procedures (e.g. disciplinary/performance improvement) to manage conduct/performance issues etc. Liaising closely with HR Department for support, advice and guidance.
  • Communicating/reporting back to the Logistics Manager to an agreed format.
  • Participation in working groups, project teams etc. including leading improvement teams to promote continuous improvement.

Operational Management

  • Receiving plan and target details from SAP – report analysis to establish priorities and transport requirements. Contingency and forward planning or remedial action as appropriate.
  • Scheduling priorities according to SAP reports (Customer Promises') ensuring optimum use of cubic capacity.
  • Monitoring performance against plans, informing Sales, Planning & Purchasing of any issues or, where appropriate, taking remedial action.
  • Rescheduling orders in close liaison with internal sales. In the absence of clear guidelines or procedures, decide on changes to the allocation of orders/reception.
  • Managing all transport related activities and SAP reports, including efficient and cost-effective transportation to meet customer delivery requirements, including 'Mill to Mill' driver.
  • Ensuring all data is entered correctly and on time for SAP System Standard and Ad – hoc reports via SAP.
  • Maintain and improve bar code system.
  • Responsible for security of all warehouse buildings.
  • Can be required to undertake warehouse and stock control tasks as and when required and any other duties commensurate with the level of the position.
