With decades of experience providing piping and flowline solutions, our Client is a highly established organisation, partnered with clients across the global arena. The role

You will be a crucial part of a highly experienced leadership team as well as the extended leadership community of the wider business Group. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of a transformative business development strategy. Using your existing technical sales expertise, industry background and innovative thinking, you will identify and develop new market opportunities, building long term relationships and accounts, and demonstrating a major positive impact on the company's commercial performance within a global Group that has ambitious growth plans.

You will be pivotal in positioning our Client as a world class leader in technical innovations for their solutions as you grow the business in terms of customers, industries and products. This role will be based at our Client's headquarters in Grimsby and will involve national and international travel to attend key trade conferences and meet with clients and suppliers

The Profile

This position will suit an enthusiastic, results driven and passionate individual with a wealth of technical knowledge who has perhaps acquired their MBA and is now looking for a step change in their career. The position is a first or second business leadership role for someone who is eager to utilise both their technical expertise and commercial know-how in a unique role, committed to delivering value and making a real difference. Role and responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

  • You will be an integral part of the Leadership Team working closely with the General Manager, Production Manager and Finance Manager to grow the business in terms of customers, industries and products
  • Develop the business development strategy to align with the wider Group strategy and support the delivery of the Client's business targets to help diversify products and diversify into new clients and markets
  • Build strategic relationships with existing customers to ensure the Client continue to exceed customer expectations
  • Identify new opportunities both with existing and new customers whilst developing commercially exciting new products and innovations
  • Enhance the existing client base and build a network of business contacts to realistically do business with
  • Work closely with the Production Team to test new ideas and innovations that could be brought to market
  • Work closely with the General Manager, Finance Manager and Production Manager to make sure that all proposals meet client requirements in terms of price, quality and schedule
  • Ensure that all customer proposals are aligned with the Client's commercial targets in terms of required margins
  • Keep abreast of industry developments to ensure the Client adapts and innovates with market requirements
  • Build strategic relationships with key external stakeholders e.g. industry bodies to help position the Client as a world class leader in technical innovations for our products
  • Attend relevant trade shows and technical conferences to enhance personal know-how and industry networks

Knowledge and Experience required:

  • Proven technical background gained in manufacturing and/or operations
  • You MUST have proven Business Development experience, having worked in a Business Development Manager capacity in the past
  • MBA qualified individuals will be highly preferred
  • Experience in sales/business development
  • Commercially astute with sharp awareness for sales opportunities
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders to achieve a commo outcome e.g customers, engineers, production, finance
  • Excellent networking and communication skills: written and oral
  • Ability to articulate and present complex data simply
  • You should be a self-starter who is able to use initiative and work independently, as well be a team player
  • Broad technical industry knowledge
  • This role could suit an individual with a strong technical and industrial background who has achieved their MBA and is looking for their first business leadership role
