Our Client are a leading, global provider of offshore and subsea construction and engineering services to the worldwide Oil and Gas industry. With decades of expertise in the offshore and subsea sector, our Client is a market leader in innovative design, high quality construction and excellent project execution, working as a trusted partner with their national, major and supermajor clients alike.

Our Client seek a highly experienced Project Director with a proven Oil and Gas and commercial background in subsea construction, to take on full project leadership from tendering through to project execution and close-out. This opportunity will be based in their London office. My Client are flexible on hiring this individual on either a contract or employee basis.

Roles and responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • You will have overall responsibility in leading significant tenders and overseeing the process from tendering to execution
  • Planning, leading and delivering the tendering and execution of subsea construction projects
  • Leading technical submissions for tender of large scale projects, particularly West Africa tenders
  • Managing commercial proposals for tender and EPCI phases and commercial coordination with Clients/JV Partners
  • Development of Business/Project Controls procedures for EPCI Phase
  • Managing and supporting offshore managers, senior management and cross functional teams
  • Responsible for bid and estimating inputs for tenders
  • Managing the development and deployment of engineering and technical teams assigned to specific tenders
  • Budgetary control and risk management, project cost control and cost reports
  • Establishing and executing Procurement Strategies for each contract package
  • Cost control, estimation and reporting for each contract package / tender
  • Contract tendering and contract execution
  • Project Close Out and Close Out Reports
  • Progress management; change management and claim control
  • Monitor progress of engineering, procurement and construction effectively
  • Schedule management (planning and execution) for each contract
  • Client engagement and stakeholder management

Essential Requirements

  • Candidates must have extensive years of proven, all-encompassing subsea construction knowledge and experience
  • Extensive experience of project management, tendering and project execution gained within the Oil and Gas sector
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of West Africa operations and West Africa project execution is essential
  • Project engineering, tendering, installation, construction and procurement experience is essential
  • Must have extensive subsea construction experience in pipe lay specifically
  • Must have extensive experience in the hook-up of subsea hardware specifically
  • Experience in heavy fabrication, installation equipment, subsea installation (EPCI), vessel new build and conversions
  • Knowledge of West African tenders, tax regimes and logistics within the subsea construction and engineering scope
  • Tendering, evaluation and negotiation knowledge and skills
  • Detailed commercial knowledge and experience of budgets and tenders
  • Strong technical subsea / offshore background
  • Engineering or project management degree qualification preferred
  • Enthusiastic and motivational team leader, capable of managing cross functional departments
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communicator with extensive interpersonal skills
