Human Resources Assistant

Simpson-Booth are working closely with a major international power generation company to assist them in hiring and appointing a new to team to their central London HQ. Currently they are looking to expand their team with the appointment of a HR Assistant. The candidate will be ideally a 'second jobber HR Assistant' who has gained a couple of years' HR experience and are looking to continue a career in HR. The focus of this role will be to support the HR Department by performing a variety of HR administrative tasks including meeting co-ordination for the HR Director and the team.

Reporting to: HR Manager

Location: London (Green Park or Piccadilly Circus)

Type: Contract (PAYE)

Duration: 12 Months (likely to be extended)

Rate: £12.00 to £14.50/hour

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing admin support for the HR team, including;

- Confirmation of employment letters
- References for New Starters
- Collating relevant information for BPSS

  • Co-ordinating meetings for HR Director and the team
  • Updating and maintaining Employee records (electronic and paper)
  • Support HR Manager with Employee Life cycle activities

- Processing starters and leavers
- Collating absence management information

  • Recruitment admin activities

- Posting Job adverts online
- Collating CV's
- Scheduling interviews

  • Supporting procurement and invoicing processes
  • Log annual, flexi and sickness leave.
  • General HR admin such as updating current staff listings, updating the staff handbook, arranging pension meetings and updating personnel files.
  • Co-ordinate and produce induction programmes and packs for new starters.

Experience/competencies required:

  • Good self-organisation, with attention to detail and the ability to organise and prioritise workload
  • An effective communicator used to dealing with internal as well as external customers
  • A clear and proactive communicator with fluency in English both written and oral
  • A quick learner who thrives in a new and challenging situation

Essential experience required:

  • Holds a relevant HR related degree/CIPD (desirable).
  • Previous HR administration experience in a fast paced environment (desirable)
  • Exceptional organisational and time-management skills
  • HR systems experience &/or ability/desire to pick up IT systems quickly
  • Strong IT skills, specifically Excel (intermediate standard), Word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Must be able to demonstrate strong organisational and time-management skills; ability to manage workload, methodical at planning and prioritising
  • Demonstrates commitment to ensure deadlines are met and keeps relevant parties updated
  • Excellent at building relationships at all levels & proven team working ability
  • Demonstrates a professional approach to work
  • Experience of working in a professional services environment (desirable)


  • Experience of working in a Joint Venture
  • Any knowledge of Mandarin Chinese would be advantageous
